Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu Game Reserve
Today you will be transferred to Wilson airport (Nairobi domestic airport) for your scheduled flight to Samburu Game Reserve, set in the rugged semi-arid northern region with spectacular scenic landscape. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Elephant Bedroom Camp , where you be staying in luxury accommodation with private plunge pools spread along the Ewaso Nyiro River, an area dotted with doum palms, acacia and giant fig trees. After a lunch at the lodge, you will be taken on a late afternoon game drive. Return to the Camp at sunset for dinner. 3 nights ELEPHANT BEDROOM CAMP.
Day 2 & 3: Samburu Game Reserve
Your next two days at Elephant Bedroom Camp, aptly named because it is an ‘unfenced’ luxury bush camp that allows elephants and other wildlife to wander in and out of the camp grounds freely, will be an experience of a lifetime. It is a great opportunity to get “up close and personal” with these gentle giants and other game. Over the two days in Samburu, you will be taken on extended game drives in search of Samburu’s ‘special five’ – the reticulated giraffe, long-necked gerenuk, Somali ostrich, Grevy’s zebra, and the Beisa Oryx besides other interesting game including the ‘cats’, Your last evening in Samburu will be a celebration - a ‘sundowner’ at a special site on the banks of the river where a Naturalist will tell you interesting stories of the area and the culture of the Samburu Tribe, whilst you enjoy a cocktail and canapés. Return to the Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Samburu - Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast transfer to the airstrip to board your scheduled flight to Masai Mara Game Reserve, arguably Kenya’s finest game sanctuary. It is perhaps the only region left in Kenya where you may see animals in the same huge numbers that existed a century ago.
On arrival, you will be met and transferred to Mara Ngenche Safari Camp located on the confluence of the Talek and the famous Mara River. This small intimate Camp boasting only six tastefully appointed tents overlooking the Mara River, is a perfect setting for the next three nights. Whilst at the camp you have the opportunity to see the resident pod of Hippopotamus and crocodiles basking on the nearby sandbank. After a welcome lunch you will be taken on an afternoon game drive in this vast and expansive reserve. Return to Camp for dinner. 3 nights MARA NGENCHE SAFARI CAMP.
Day 5 & 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve
The next two days in the Masai Mara will offer you the opportunity to go out in search of the Big 5 and other plains game. The Masai Mara is the northern most extension of the Serengeti Plains and one of the richest wildlife game reserves.
It is home to the blackmanned lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, herds of elephants, rhino, zebra, and migrating wildebeest (July – Oct) and numerous other plains game. There are also very rare caracal and the hunting dogs that has been spotted in recent times. Your time will be spent on extended game viewing drives, visiting a Masai village or a visit to a local primary school supported by the ‘Manji Foundation’.
Day 7: Masai Mara - Nairobi
Today is your last day in the bush but there is time for a morning game drive before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your return flight to Wilson Airport, before being transferred to Jomo Kenyatta Airport (Nairobi International Airport).
