Morocco is a country which boasts snow-capped mountains and sandy deserts, fertile plains and long white beaches, ancient ruins and modern resorts; a huge choice for the visitor. Its main cities include exotic Marrakech and the world's best-preserved medieval Arab medina, Fes, the beautiful bastion of Essaouira on the Atlantic coast, and blue-painted Chedhaouen with its echoes of Andalucia in the Rif Mountains. South of Marrkech, whether in the High Atlas valleys or down in the Sahara, the great kasbahs and palm cultivations are an inspiration. Further south, the great emptiness of the Sahara is waiting to be explored.
